Asbestos Removal – Does my floor have asbestos in it?

What is Asbestos? Asbestos is a group of minerals that occur naturally in the environment. Together these minerals can be separated into thin, threads. These thin threads are resistant to heat, fire, and chemicals and do not conduct electricity. This is the reason it has been used in a variety of products.
Starting in the early 40s into the 80s asbestos was used in a variety of home applications including flooring, and roofing. In 1989 the EPA issued a Ban on Asbestos ruling that products can only contain trace amounts. If you’re looking to remove a floor that is in an older home you will want to check with a certified Asbestos Abatement company to make sure that the flooring is safe to remove. If it is not you will need to have a professional either encapsulate it or remove it for you.
When asbestos flooring is removed it can release hazardous Asbestos fibers into the air that can get trapped in your lungs. Exposure can cause inflammation in the lungs which can affect breathing and cause permanent scaring. When in doubt leave it to the professionals.

Specialty Equipment Rentals offers a rent to own program for our Burnishers. We carry many of the well known brands such as Clark and NSS. Our program offers you the opportunity to get the equipment your company needs without a large upfront expense. After renting the machine for a 12 month period you then own the equipment. There are no long term commitments with our program. If you decide in a few months you want to return the equipment you can.
This program is currently only available with our walk behind floor burnisher line of equipment.

Blastrac has been in business for over 30 years and offers a large line of professional high end grinders, shot blasters and stippers for a variety of surface preparation applications. Specialty Equipment Rentals carries a variety of Blastrac machines. If there is a specific model you are looking for and you do not find it on our website let us know. It isn’t uncommon for us to add what you’re looking to our rental equipment fleet.
Currently we carry both the Blastrac B MS-270 and the BMS 220 riding tile scrapers. We also have the Blastrac 1-15D Shot Blaster available for rent. February 15th, 2010 by AdminBlastrac one of the leaders in shot blasters, grinders and scarifiers is now carrying a new line of floor scrapers. The BMS-L1950 Lighting and the BMS-H2750 Hurricane floor strippers are now available. These units are propane machines powered by a beefy 25hp Kohler motor . Both units are designed for removal of a variety of floor coatings including VCT, Adhesives, Ceramic and hardwood. Both units were featured at this years World of Concrete held in Las Vegas.
National Carpet Equipment has launched the model 14200 High Speed Burnisher. Its a 4 HP 115 Volt system with a variable speed between 50 and 2000rpm which is an improvement over the 14100 1.5 hp motor burnisher.
National Carpet Equipment now offers the new 72 High Performance Powered Carpet Puller. The new design has a 1.5HP motor compared to the 1HP motor found in their previous model. The new unit can pull between 15-22 feet per minute.
